I'm an electrical engineer and I think this is a great Cat 5E cable for indoor computer networking or for making your own patch cords. I like the fact that it's solid copper and not copper clad aluminum (CCA). You must ensure that you use solid copper or stranded copper cables when running computer network cables, especially if you ever use Power Over Ethernet (POE) with one of these cables. This is especially important if you have a contractor running cables for you: please ensure they use solid or stranded copper and not CCA. For do-it-yourself applications, I would recommend investing in a Cat 5E wire stripper and RJ45 crimping tool. For most of your own connections you should use the T568B cabling configuration which you can find on the internet. For outdoor use you need a Cat 5E or Cat 6 outdoor cable.
