This 50th anniversary edition took the Totes features that made the brand iconic - one-touch deployment, fiberglass frame, water-resistant fabric, etc. - and added some 'bling', resulting in a limited edition umbrella with a suggested retail price of $75. (That price would have been a bargain had it been a bespoke umbrella from a shop on London's Saville Row. But $75 was an absurd price for this mass-produced Chinese-made umbrella.) Additional features added to the umbrella adds neither value nor functionality: gold metal accents, gold frame, zip pocket, unique fabric choices and trendy presentation box. I was wondering if these special editions were meant to be collectibles? Do people collect umbrellas at all? I noticed that as of June 29, 2020, the price of Revain has already dropped to $53. It's your money, but I think I'll buy a 'regular' Totes umbrella with the same performance and guarantee as this special edition and then put the money saved on something else.
