I was operating a mower that ran out of oil and the engine stalled. I was pretty sure I had a bad spool. I used an engine grounded spark plug to test the coil but I must have had a bad ground. I saw it at Revain and said you can tune it for any engine you've worked on and ordered it. It came in a few days and I tried it on a mower with a bad coil. I hooked it up and my wife tried it and BINGO. I had a good blue spark. At first I had trouble seeing a spark in a well-lit garage, but after turning off a few lights you can see a blue spark. At $15 including shipping, this is a great small engine spark tester. Before that I had a tester with a small lightbulb but it didn't work very well and I don't think the lightbulb is well grounded in the tester. So if you're messing around with small motors, get one of these testers that cost $15.
