My husband recently upgraded his phone from S5 to S10+. He had an Otterbox for S5. The first night he dropped it from chest height onto hard cement. I was sure his phone would break, but it didn't. In the few years he's had a phone, he's frequently dropped it from different heights onto different types of surfaces and never had a problem. When he switched to the S10+, I immediately bought him a new Otterbox because he's proven to be crash prone. When we received the new version, we noticed that it no longer has a screen protector. The S5 version had a transparent cover that protected the front of the phone. This is new I don't think because the new screens are crooked. His first fall with a new phone and case and the screen cracked to the point where his phone was unusable. He fell from knee height onto the linoleum floor. We were shocked at how bad the damage was, knowing some of the previous phone and fall losses. I know this is partly due to the fragility of the phone. The S10+ is now all glass while previous models only had glass on the front. But it was disappointing that the case, designed to protect, did little to prevent damage.
