Okay, first I want to say I already have tons of these deodorant packs at home that work, so when I add them to everything that's happening I haven't noticed a difference, but I know that these products work and I'll tell you why. When I first moved into this house it had the worst smell I have ever smelled in a house and I could tell it came from both chimneys. I couldn't do anything about it because I rent an apartment and I have nowhere to go. I only live in my house, I could smell it, and you usually don't smell how bad the house smells until you leave and come in for a while. I could tell the smell was on my clothes and it just permeated everything. and it caused so much emotional distress to know how bad it smells in here. My mom had a similar problem with odors in the house and she couldn't believe that ordering several bags of charcoal could solve it. So I decided to do the same and ordered a full set. You need to research how much you need for your room size as it matters. I've placed them throughout the house, in fireplaces, main rooms and all other wet areas. 2 days after installation, all smells in my house literally disappeared as if by magic. I was so shocked and have been talking about it ever since because I thought there was nothing I could do but move out. I know once I move and take these bags with me, this house is gonna stink just like it used to. I told my landlords about it and sort of warned them that if they didn't buy it would smell really bad when I left. lol. Chimneys are not currently in use and have holes that can get wet. And if they were completely renovated, I know because I live in the Pacific Northwest that they would still be damp because I've read about it from so many other people and how smelly fireplaces can be. They also help with animal odor and anything that really stinks. And literally 2 days after receiving the entire batch. And they say that you should expose them to the sun for a few hours each month, but I've honestly only done that twice in the past few years, and they still work for me. Once I left them in the sun and didn't put them back in for 1 day and my smell came back. Anyhow, I don't think of charcoal bags as a gimmick and am a firm believer in them as long as you invest enough in what you need for your room dimensions. I liked these as they came in a cute pouch. I hang my dogs' dormitories one by one because it stinks. Charcoal absorbs odors.
