This is a great decoration for a coffee bar. However, be extremely careful when cleaning. I often make cappuccinos and of course the fine base tends to ferment during the process. While the mat does an excellent job of catching my spills along with its plastic backing, it does have one issue. When cleaning, avoid heating with anything other than cold water. I spilled some grist and wanted to rinse it off in the sink as it's coffee. I want to use warm water to wash off the residue to avoid staining when the plastic backing shrinks. It is woven into the material of the burlap so that when squeezed it pulls and twists the edges. A minor inconvenience that I think could be remedied by making the plastic backing thicker (it's almost just a film) or allowing cleaning without hot water (since I think most people wash dishes with warm water ).
