My son only wears rubber boots. It makes sense to be in Seattle, it gets very wet here. But due to his fondness for boots, they tend to wear out badly. This is our third pair of Hatleys for him - each pair has lasted 10 months. It doesn't seem like much time, but they're worn every day, everywhere, and 3-year-olds don't skimp on things. They eventually tear but generally last as long as his foot can fit - next size up, new pair. I know BOGS makes better, more durable boots, but at almost triple the price, it just doesn't seem worth it if a pair outlasts him when he outgrows them - it's better to be "disposable" and to have him carry them as needed. legs grow. He and I were happy with them.
