I started looking for a GoPro milestone knowing I needed an aluminum construction so I wouldn't have to worry about rusting from sea water, aluminum camera mount / Screw with rolled head. for added durability over those made of plastic, and a wrist strap for added security. I love my Sandmarc Metal Edition Stick! The design and build quality is top notch, I agree it can be used as a self defense weapon if needed. The handle and wrist strap are very helpful when diving. The stick will fill with water once submerged, but the water will quickly drain out of the hole where the wrist strap attaches to the bottom of the handle when the stick is fully retracted to the minimum height. This allows you to unscrew the aluminum top camera mount after your dive is complete and rinse the inside of the shaft with fresh water to get rid of the salt water. The angle of the aluminum camera mount allows you to mount your GoPro for both selfies and front shots. Either way, the mount allows the user to fine-tune the desired camera angle by hand without loosening the thumbscrew on the pole. The nearly 90 degree forward angle at any bar length, combined with the Hero 4 Silver's built-in display, is very useful when diving (see my attached photo for example). You only need to twist a few turns to extend or fold the pole. You will feel a slight release of pressure as you begin to loosen the clamps, after which the pole pieces will move freely. The SP Gadgets Smart Mount for GoPro Smart Remote is perfect for this milestone. Although there are cheaper sticks on the market, do some research on what they are made of and what user reviews they have. Considering the price I believe this racquet will last for many years in all conditions.
