I had to tighten it several times and in the end I decided I just need to use some kind of screw lock. I didn't want to use screw lock because it interferes with easily removing your bags. But I did. since i did it I made myself comfortable and checked out about 5 times without checking my luggage. Both bolts on my right bag came out fully and my bag flew, slipped and tripped on the freeway. I wouldn't recommend them unless you can afford to change your bags that often because of the dampening of the vibration. Actually, the OEM quarter turn pins were safer. They may be "anti-theft" but really all the thief has to do with them is walk around and pick up parts as they fall off your bike.
