It's actually 7/8 " wide and very heavy.
This D ring is actually 7/8" wide and very heavy. Measured by the inside height and is slightly larger than 5/8 inch. The gauge is also very heavy which makes it unsuitable for my application to add a D-ring to attach leashes to small dog vests. D-rings from a major hardware store nearby are 5/8 inch outside the measured width and are very light. Unfortunately it costs more to ship back than I paid for it so I will be donating the bag to a local thrift store.
