I bought this and it is a very good device BUT: Here is a strange situation. My 2.5" external hard drive (not an SSD) is connected to a hub. It has no network connection, it is powered by a computer bus. This hub is not connected to a computer (USB cable is not connected.) . The power cable is connected between the hub and the power supply. So I think my drive is not being accessed because it is not connected to the computer. But the activity light on my external drive keeps blinking and the drive vibrates just like when the computer is accessing it. So I think something is wrong with the electronics if my drive continues to be accessed even when the hub is not connected to the computer. I am returning it for this reason. Other than that, it's a VERY nice design, it works fine without a power supply, but I need a power supply as I plan to power multiple external drives with it. If the manufacturer reads this and can fix this issue, I'd be happy to get another one. This is a very nicely designed block. But it only has a 5V power supply while other hubs have 12V. Not sure how this affects external drives.
