These are great socks. I wear size 4.5 adult women's shoes and the large fits perfectly. They are very soft and pleasant to the touch, but not bulky and not prickly. They are thicker than regular socks but smaller than regular socks. I can easily wear them with all shoes. I wash and air dry, but the steam that accidentally got into the dryer didn't shrink. These are ankle socks, not calf socks, they stretch well. I liked them so much that I ordered another set. Some notice that both socks are marked "L". Mine too, but I think it means Big, not Left. I recommend.
