Review on Studebaker Pink Radio SB2000 White/Pink Retro Classic Portable AM/FM Radio With Aux Input (Limited Edition Color) by Jeremy Gums

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Nice chassis design but CHEAP guts. Poor quality chinese junk.

This is a radio. VERY cheaply made. Its electronic design is based on an AM-FM chip that is programmed every time it is switched on by a chip containing a small amount of RAM filled with settings (which control the properties for proper tuning in the country where it is intended to be used). Then comes the amplifier chip, then finally the power controller chip. Made cheap. My "black" radio is actually brown. Here are some interior photos for those who want to know what's inside. This is not an amp VHF radio like we used to do with detector stages, IF stages etc. They were true tuned superheterodyne radios. Like the ones we used in the 70's and early 90's. This is a computer programmed multifunctional radio with a smart and pretty cool body. The speaker is the smallest and cheapest they could find. This is MUCH smaller than the "grid" you see on the outside of the radio. Some may want to buy a radio to gut it and put nicer electronics in it. a bigger speaker, a Bluetooth interface, etc. I'll do that. Here are the photos from the inside.

Pros
  • ► Portable radio AM/FM receiver and AC adapter plug included for home or office use
Cons
  • Crumpled
