I've tried about twenty earbuds and earphones over the last ten or twelve years and they are as close to perfection as I can tell. I've swapped expensive audiophile in-ear headphones for buying boxes of cheap disposable headphones. I know that Bose has always been suspected of over-advertising and over-pricing its products. However, for the discounted price I paid for them, around $90, they exceeded my expectations on both counts. These headphones are specifically designed to fit loosely at the entrance of the ear canal, not inside. This seemed counterintuitive to me, and I was sure they would fall out horribly during use like current APPLE headsets. Not this case. They feel a little loose in the ear, but actually hold up quite well. The big advantage of this approach is that they seem to be using the pinna (the outer area of the cartilage, had to face up) to pick up the sound in a very natural way, rather than sending it to the center of your brain. The clarity is incredible. I listen to a lot of podcasts and the voice fidelity is excellent. I used to have to repeat parts all the time because I couldn't understand what was being said, but that rarely happens now. Music is also fun on these cell phones. It's cliché to say "I heard things in this song that I've never heard before," but it absolutely applies to the things I heard with them. I bought the SoundSport version because they advertise extra durability and I'm very hard on headsets. They appear to be quite well made and should hold up to a lot of abuse. Cables far and wide are the least prone tangles I've ever encountered. As far as I've used the controls/mic it seems to work very well and people can hear me just fine during a phone call. I strongly recommend you try them out.
