You get what you pay for. It was about $6. My son is 19 months old and doesn't care about cracks in the top board. I will let him use this puzzle anyway as he will enjoy it. Despite the seller/manufacturer's claim of possible damage in transit from the Revains distribution centre, it was packaged well in a cloth bag, tightly wrapped in vacuum plastic and shipped in a large box with air bags and a few other items. To me, this means the item is fragile. With no obvious hits, fakes, or any other anomalies, I simply consider the product inferior. My rating reflects this. It's 25% cheaper than quality brands for a reason. Another downside that I don't like is that there is too much writing space on the board. A few letters are easily placed in the wrong grooves, slowing down my son's learning speed.
