Start with this, like many others. I am by no means an "audiophile". But I have very good ears. I can hear the underside of the dog whistle. It's useless to whisper around me :). Well I have to say these speakers are a steal for the price! hands down I have to admit, as per other reviews, these speakers are a little "missing" right out of the box. But once you put them through the "warm-up" process, which takes about 8-10 hours, these speakers really sing! Very precise with noticeable bass without being overwhelming or overdone. These speakers are made for crystal-clear highs and precise mids for fatigue-free listening. PLEASE BE CAREFUL. Sufficient POWER is crucial for these speakers. I hooked it up to a c.1977 Kenwood KA-5700 (55 watts per channel (right). And this thing makes me cry when I squirt some Marvin Gaye "Spare Me." GET IT. YOU WILL DON'T BE DISAPPOINTED
