Review on πŸ“± Valkit Translucent Frosted Back Protective Smart Cover for iPad 9th/8th/7th Generation, iPad 10.2 2021/2020/2019, Gold - Auto Wake/Sleep by Craig Shah

Revainrating 5 out of 5

In general I am very satisfied with the case, despite a small flaw.

I can't believe how hard it was to find a slim iPad case with a detachable cover. I thought there were a million possibilities. nope Almost only this one. Luckily this is a great case for a great price. The only reason the durability rating has been lowered is that the front plastic strip next to the charge port (i.e. the jumper in the case that runs sideways between the charge port and the home button) may need some strengthening. When holding the iPad in landscape mode I have to be very careful when touching it because it flexes and moves slightly in a way that I know will stress the material and will eventually cause it to fail, if not particularly careful. So this is a major annoyance - I don't want to protect the foil. That's what this is about. The rest of the case, however, is exactly the type I like - a transparent, poly-independent case that protects the corners while maintaining a low profile and enough ductility to adequately absorb some impact. The material is perfect. More importantly, despite the fact that this is the only case with this design at Revain (and presumably the seller designed and made it specifically for them) this gives kudos to them for not going to a Chinese wholesaler website and didn't buy the exact same cases as 10,000 other seller) The unique lid mechanism is VERY well thought out and very durable. It's literally perfect. The retractable, captive bar is ideal for providing enough friction so the lid never slips off accidentally. At the same time, it's not difficult to put it on or take it off whenever I want (which I often do). So they really nailed it on that front. Finally, the price is very reasonable. Sensibly, I'd be happy to buy another one from this seller if or when that little corrugated plastic rod below fails (after a month of use I'm estimating it will fail in 12-18 months). Ideally, they should have improved their design by then so the next generation of their cases don't have the same flaw. But to be honest, even if it didn't, and assuming the choice of comparable products hasn't increased over that hypothetical time, I'd still buy this case as is.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
