First, I state that I cannot directly prove that the hospitalization was caused by the food itself. Or rather, how my cat processed it. However, I feel entitled to rate this since I have the evidence. My cat developed 2 severe total urethral blocks which resulted in 2 catheterizations at 2 different hospitals within 2 weeks of switching to this food and then again during weaning from the switch to a prescription diet which she will now use for the rest of her life must follow. . I tried other products but he didn't like them. Cravings would set in, when my food was no longer around I had to switch. The old food lasted me about a week and the cat liked the food very much. I can't fault the taste or health of the leftovers because they smell a little less. However, it has been blocked by the formation of crystals as a result of eating. This happens when the acidity fluctuates, too high you get a special type of crystal, too low and you get a different type that was usually alkaline (low acidity). Now I think his diet has either been broken for such a long time or it's time to finally fix the problem, which is also possible. I don't assume the food is bad. It was definitely bad for my cat hence the rating. And maybe the formula has a lower PH than other brands, I don't know. I know that dogs and cats who are generally prone to struvite blockage should probably stay away from this brand, although you wouldn't know they needed it (I didn't even know what struvite was prior to all of this). I can't quantify anything I say beyond that. But the cat has been fine since the diet, and I'm actually pretty sure I could go back to my dad's chicken, which he loved, but the cat's potential loss of health isn't worth satisfying my curiosity. Again, I will not spoil the food. But the reviews are definitely personal experiences with the product and mine cost me $3,000 and almost killed my cat twice. If I hadn't been so careful, it's possible that serious injury or death could have resulted from the switch to Crave. So if you decide to take this or switch to a new food, do yourself a favor and keep an eye on the size of your urine clots. If they're significantly shrinking, or a lot of them are starting to pop up where the larger singles used to be, or you notice your cat is littering a lot more than usual, you should talk to your vet about it. The month of recovery has been incredibly difficult for him and for me and has required a lot of care, attention and medication and I don't want anyone to go through this.
