Review on Osprey Packs Nebula Laptop Backpack by Kanwar Mix

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Decent bag with cheap zippers

I bought this looking for a versatile backpack and for the occasional overnight trip. The capacity is advertised as 30 liters and comes pretty close. Luckily, the Osprey avoided the many stupid foreign bags eating their way into the interior cargo hold. It also gives it a cleaner aesthetic look. The laptop case's low profile design (TSA compliant) is a nice touch that doesn't really interfere with the rest of the features. The laptop bag itself is smaller than I expected. It barely fits in my 15" Lenovo laptop and doesn't offer adequate top protection - the corners of the laptop are very close to the zippers. Laptop in a different sleeve. The two main pockets are large enough to reach the floor - none weird dividers or inner pockets. Hundreds of built-in organizational features that would fit right in. I was able to take my laptop, dopp kit and clothes with me for 3 days to leave room for various items like chargers and pens. Retractable compression straps seem not being necessary unless you're short on space to fit your bag in. Unfortunately, the Nebula has one major drawback: cheap zippers. Big pulls are welcome, but the zippers just don't move smoothly and feel very gritty This is particularly annoying when you're trying to unhook it or simply zip it down a bit to slide in to get in and grab something. At this price even Ogio bags, Swiss Gear, Oakley etc have better zippers (most have YKK). I am absolutely amazed at the selection of these zippers. I'm happy to spend a few euros more for a nice smooth zipper. In the end the bag was sent back as the zippers affect usability. It's a shame because otherwise it's a solid bag.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Vulgarity
