Really good but replace the cable

I have a LG phone so I put a good DAC in and the power to push through a pair of headphones. I replaced the cable with a 16-wire silver-plated copper cable, which has less tangles and sounds better. I finally settled on some special Japanese TPE snowflake tips. They seal like foam but work like silicone. Sonically, they are slightly V-shaped. Very little. They are fairly neutral and benefit from an amplifier. I have a Mayflower CMOY which sounds very similar to the O2 but is much more portable. The bass is fast with good extension. The amp pulls it up and gives it a little more stretch. Average good. You can feel the texture of cellos, timbres of analog synthesizers and voices. The amp delivers a bit more speed and that sets these headphones apart from others I've used. The impact of most music usually comes from the bass. With them, the bass is fast, solid, goes down. However, the mid-range transition speed is high enough to make a difference. The same applies to high frequencies. EDM is usually about bass and soundstage. The CA16 is also about the mids and highs that really let you feel textures that you didn't notice before. The piano suddenly feels more real as it takes a lot of speed to catch her super fast touch. Due to the proximity of female voices, they can even come across as a bit analytical. Sonically, they are well balanced from bottom to top. Again, it's slightly V-shaped. The inconsistency is that the fast dynamic bass driver doesn't quite match the mid-range speed of the balanced armature drivers. As we move to high frequencies. However, this should not be taken as a bad thing. The bass is very good for its price. The mids and highs are just better. :-) The sound stage is good. I don't usually get a good soundstage with headphones. My open-back headphones work pretty well and they really live up to this level. Placing drivers around the nozzle can minimize phase problems. I bought a pair of Blon 01's and they really do have the best soundstage. In that respect, they really succeed. Both are wide, but the blon has noticeably more depth and sharpness. They have a really rich sound BUT they slow down noticeably as the frequency increases. The blondes also have a slightly annoying peak in brightness. The picture is probably better because it's on the driver on each side rather than the crossover. However, when I go out with blons in my ears, I start dreaming about the CA16.

Pros
  • Detachable 2PIN 0.75mm cable
Cons
  • Piggy bank price
