Do it before installing!
Make sure you choose a pattern for each light fixture before installing. I set them up, wired them up and connected them to a switch to sync them in a pattern. The problem is that they came from the factory for different models. So out of a dozen patterns available, one light was on pattern 3 and the next on pattern 6 and so on. So now when I change a pattern, they go to the next pattern in their individual order, but they don't all belong to the same pattern. Now the only way I can fix this is to cut all my yellow wires, assemble them in a pattern, and reconnect all the yellow wires.
