Review on πŸŽ€ Wee Wonderfuls: 24 Dolls to Sew and Cherish by Kim Sanchez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I love this book!

There are a couple of books I want to make at least half the items of, I'll make 18-20 of 24 out of this one, waiting for it to go to my younger ones. Even my son picked the three he wanted (the Eddie Boy doll, the cart toy, and the Evelyn inchworm, which for some reason he just can't wait to get his hands on). There are whimsical characters, cute librarian bears to look at and dolls to play with. Both of my older girls have Margo upside down on their wish lists and I already know I'll be making them by next Christmas to get what they want and give them away for the holidays and birthdays. Then my youngest is old enough to make her own versions and of course there are cousins and friends. The pictures are large and in color, the instructions are clear and laid out in simple steps. Both machine and hand sewing (mostly faces) and everything from felt, fabric and trimmings to their making. The amount of fabric needed can range from scraps up to 1/4 yard for most things, so you might have enough on hand to start a few projects if you're a fabric lover like me :) ( My girls loved looking through my scraps of fabric to choose a dress for their sleepover doll.) What I really like is how the author uses different ideas for hair - fleece, felt, yarn, fabric, and even bodice. Full recommendation for beginners who can try simpler things, experienced seamstresses for the sheer beauty of the finished product. I don't care how good you are as long as the end product is great, it doesn't matter that the methods are easy (I hate reviews that complain that it's not hard enough instead of just letting us know that it is easy and can be boring for understanding). those more experienced seamstresses that I'm not) and so far I've found them that way, even as a novice toy seamstress :)

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Can't remember
