Very happy with this purchase. I followed the care instructions I found online (they didn't come with the towels) to prepare the towels for their first use and to care for them through the wash.1. Soak them in a water bath for a few hours, or overnight if possible, before using them for the first time. This causes the fibers to swell so that they absorb water better during use. I was happy with the results; I didn't have the absorbency issues that some reviewers mentioned. 2, WASH IN A GENTLE DETERGENT, NO FABRIC SOFTENER, DRY if possible. I used Woolite for the HE machine. I've tumble dried them a few times but I dry them on low heat and try to take them out when they're barely dry. I think NO FABRIC SOFTENER is the most important part to keep water absorbency.3. If an accidental knot comes undone during washing and re-tying seems painful, check to make sure they are tight before washing. I don't do this...my knots haven't unraveled yet, but I know how to twist and retie them if there are any. They pack lightly and take up little space. In fact, on a recent 9 day trip to Hawaii, my family of 4 brought 6 towels and was still able to travel without checking their luggage. I will NEVER pack big beach towels again! I've used it on sandy beaches, by the pool, and on a lake boat (after a trip to Hawaii). I've also used it as a shower towel, cape, light airplane blanket, picnic blanket and sunscreen. I also like colors.
