Perfect in many ways Bought for my wife's birthday. and she absolutely LOVES it. She's been looking for a glass cake stand and dome to hold tall cakes for a long time and there aren't many. To really show off her gift, I made the lemon blueberry cake shown in the picture (it's not pretty, but it was my first cake made from scratch). Suitable for large cakes. This cake is made with 4 tiers of 9 inch round cake layers, each about 1.5 inches thick. After cooling and decorating, it is about 9.5 inches wide and 6.25 inches high. You can see there's a bit of wiggle room on the sides, but that's pretty much a height limitation. Either way, this set will definitely fit big cakes! ATTENTION: The cake is on a different stand. The silver stand is NOT included. Moving the cake just doesn't work. Seen on the picture on the silver base. Quality The blown glass top is quite thick and should withstand normal use with careful handling. BUT it is big and heavy, so if you have a granite countertop, granite sink or cast iron sink, be very careful when washing. slips out of your hands, it will have a lot of momentum. I was concerned about blown glass and whether the edge would be perfectly even. THE! The base is perfectly formed, the top wobbles slightly (as you would expect from large blown glass) and the bottom edge is precisely cut (but not sharp) so it sits perfectly on the base. Design and Appearance The top is a little on the large side. , but it's definitely necessary for the weight of this top. There is a visible but not overpowering iridescence that you typically see in blown glass. My wife and I think this is the perfect look. It looks a little plain in the photos, but that slight sheen makes it pretty pretty.
