Very durable. When I first got it, I accidentally knocked it on the sink while trying to wash it. Luckily it's not cracked, there weren't any scratches or chips on it. The bowl is a bit slippery and difficult to lift when very hot. It would be nice if he had handles to hold on to. But I like the large size (I chose 7 cups). It's hard to find a microwavable food storage container that's sturdy, not too small or too big, with a tight-fitting lid that's not too flimsy. The container itself is also oven safe, but the lid cannot be used in the oven. Just a word of warning, although the lid is technically microwaveable, be sure not only to leave the lid open, but also move it slightly away from the container to allow for ventilation before microwaving or storing hot food . If you leave the lid directly on the container, even if it's not completely closed, the heat will create suction and the lid will be drawn into the container. I learned this the hard way, and even after removing the lid and leaving it alone for a few hours, it didn't return to its original shape. And it didn't quite fit anymore, so I had to send the canister back and replace it.
