Review on Elf Stor 40 inch Tall Green Wrapping Paper Storage Box - Model 83-DT5518 by Michael Glassburn

Great idea that didn't live up to expectations

So this is a great idea; We've always struggled with the problem between seasons of where/how to store the LONG rolls of Christmas wrapping paper?! The case itself is pretty well made, and the colors (red with green trim) are a good indication of what's inside. Also, it's nice to place handles on all four sides. Now for the cons: 1) First, the cover isn't attached to the body, it's a separate piece. The first thing we did was lose the lid for a while before finally finding it again. The lid must be firmly attached to the top of the case; probably lightning. This change would help solve another problem that I will cover later. 2) Secondly, this product is designed to be used while standing and cannot be slid under the bed. Yes, the image in the product ad shows the case standing; but I suggested that it can be placed on its side and slipped under the bath. Bad guess. 3) Third, it's all too flimsy - in my opinion, the design isn't rigid enough. Of course it will stand on its end as shown in the picture; but the sides flex under the lid at the slightest touch. This is pretty unreliable; and I'm not very comfortable with something that high and wobbly. If the lid were rigid and firmly bonded to the case, that might help. 4) Fourth, I am very concerned about the durability of the product, especially the green handles attached to the sides. It's amazing how much a dozen or more long rolls of film weigh; and every time I have to move the suitcase I worry that one of the handles will come loose. It hasn't happened yet, but I'm afraid it will eventually. All in all, a good idea that is thwarted by a mediocre implementation. It's better than many similar products, but not good enough to recommend. Three stars out of five.

Cons
  • Crumpled wrapping
