I travel on the commuter bus (2 hours each way) and need something that can stash essentials and keep them close at hand, both on the bus and during the trip. basically while going about my day. I also spend hours at a client's several times a week and needed a relatively unobtrusive, hands-free way to keep all my belongings to myself without having to repack anything. the main compartment was kind of a black hole and how uncomfortable the strap could be around my neck. This solves both problems. Everything has its own compartment and I can distribute things evenly in weight and volume. The things I need all the time (including a bag of diabetes meds) are in the front half. Things I use less often or occasionally are at the back. If you're careful to keep uncomfortable things in front when leaning on it while sitting and don't overload this compartment, one complaint I've seen from other reviewers about not being able to wear this while seated, none Problem. Haven't tried it with a water bottle yet because I have a different system for that, but the Velcro pockets inside are big enough to hold one. I bought 2X and if I had never included a water bottle I could really get by with 1X. But it's nice to have a little more flexibility, and it's not too much.
