Great product with one caveat!

Before I go into this review, I have to agree with others that the top of this cat tree is heavy and the base needs to be bigger to keep it from falling over. This poses a structural problem for the breeder, as enlarging it will move the tree away from the window if you want your tree to be near where your cat can look outside. BUT, don't let that put you off! The benefits far outweigh this limitation as it is easy to fix. More on that in a minute. Our 16 year old cat passed away. After we adopted another sweet and tender fluffy soul to share our home with, I bought him a new scratching post. This was another one on Revain that was really good, that is, until our cat started using it as a scratch pad, which was part of its function. After four months, the scratching post turned into a tattered mess. He scraped through the posts until they were riddled with cardboard holes and the rope was completely untangled. So I researched scratching posts that offered the best design. We wanted one with big posts that aren't made out of cheap cardboard. It also required a thicker rope that was fully glued to the pole rather than nailed. Most trees have a rope tied in place. If a cat rips it off, it will unravel. It seemed that all scratching posts were the same as our old ones. I could never find one that met our expectations. until I found this scratching post. We had it for several months and our cat scratched it every day. The scratching post is not made of rope and is much stronger than traditional rope scratching posts. The tree consists of only five parts. Took me about an hour to assemble our old tree. It took a maximum of 15 minutes to create this tree. Its minimalistic design is an advantage as it doesn't have to be really complicated to build. The tree also comes with another block that can be installed under the top bed so it can be wall mounted to prevent tipping. We couldn't really use this because it raised the bed so the cat's face was level with the obstacle preventing it from seeing outside. Earth! Omg! My wife immediately found a solution. She had bought pavers the day before. There were four left and they just sat in the garage. These heavy blocks were perfect for the scratching post. They are not without attraction, and three of them, placed at the base of the tree, solved the problem immediately. Ever since placing blocks at the base of the tree, he has never been close to falling. The beds are very comfortable and are held in place with velcro. They are very easy to put on and take off and can be washed. However, remember that they are white. They pick up hair and dirt easily. Haven't researched this yet, but the beds look like they could easily be replaced with a regular cat bed of the same size. I also need to find out if Notepad can be replaced. It is holding up very well but will likely need a new one in the future. If the manufacturer reads this and can comment on it, that would be great! I wouldn't discount this scratching post because people say it falls off. You can get used to that. Either install an anchor block or place heavy objects such as pavers on the subfloor. This tree is much better built than any other tree I have found and the price is very good considering the quality you are getting. And it's made in America - actually in Georgia! I love supporting our local business!
