Review on Stylish and Featherweight Rimless Reading Glasses for Men and Women by Jessi Johnson

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Bad design and quality control. The lenses are laterally asymmetrical; Lenses have different strengths

After testing my dad with a near horoscope, I bought him one of these 2D glasses (marked AV RL2003 C7 R200 on a temple) based on many positive reviews that were considered legitimate from the outside become site that determines the quality of the rating. (These are incorrectly referred to as 3 diopters by Revain in the title of the review.)1. Manufactured in China by an unknown manufacturer, these goggles are marketed as model AV RL-2003 by Altec Vision (trademarks owned by Megalowmart Holdings, now owned by FSM Technology) and sold here by a subsidiary of FSM Technology-owned brands. .2. These are rimless glasses with plastic frames and plastic lenses. The frame arms are made from TR90 nylon, a flexible and lightweight thermoplastic, while the bridge is made from hard and brittle-looking plastic measuring 0.13 x 0.1 inches (3.4 x 3.3 mm). Depending on how carefully the wearer removes the glasses, particularly by grasping one of the hands with only one hand, a not inconsiderable bending force can be applied to the bridge, which may explain the negative reports of the bridge breaking. The outer edge of each lens is fixed to the corresponding arm with a screw and hex nut. The inside edge, however, is attached much less tightly with a screw that goes over the bridge and threads into a hole at the end of the nosepiece. Over-tightening this screw will easily damage the machine-threaded hole in the very thin metal at the end of the nosepiece, which other reviews have pointed out.3. All screws have slotted heads. The Altec Vision website shows the same RL-2003 model with Phillips head screws, which are self-centering and easier to adjust with less risk of the screwdriver slipping and scratching the lens. This change to cheaper screws is a cheap reduction in quality.4. Their quality control can be very poor and sloppy. In spectacles, one lens was thicker and had a greater diopter power than the other: +2.0 diopters for the left eye and +3.0 diopters for the right eye. This can be seen in my drawing where the glasses were photographed from above with the bottom rim up (so her outstretched hands held the glasses almost vertically); on the right side part, a black piece of cardboard is inserted under the glasses to make the differences in thickness at the lower edge of the glasses (circles) more visible. Further, as indicated by the blue arrows marking the centers of the left and right frames, the hinges relative to the 15 cm ruler, the center of which coincides with the center of the bridge at a height of 7.5 cm (black arrows), the The left and right halves of the glass frame are of different sizes (ie do not end at the same distance from the center of the bridge). Although the difference is not very large, the visual axis of each eye does not coincide with the optical center of the corresponding lens, which degrades the optical quality of the image. This lateral asymmetry is not due to different lens sizes, as the maximum width of both lenses is 49mm (instead of the advertised 50mm), but to the different size of the plastic pieces between each frame shoulder and the corresponding lens. Lens. This is a strikingly bad eyewear design.6. The glasses were returned for a refund, not an exchange.
