Just a base cover. With the lid closed, this offers you at least a minimal protection. The edges of the case don't protrude past the screen, so there's no protection if you drop it face down when it's open. Use a protective glass just in case. I like the color, very dark smoky blue. The case has a slim profile so it doesn't feel bulky. Very understated. Sometimes folding the lid back into the stand doesn't always hold, and that's my only complaint.
