The drawstring doesn't constrict the waist at all.
Bought a size larger than waist because they have a drawstring and need a longer length. Unfortunately, the tip is more of a rope material. He doesn't pull his pants down and more for the beauty (probably?). I had to go back. Otherwise they seemed to be of decent quality and very soft.
