Heavy and strong! - TV ceiling and wall mounts

I had trouble finding a wall mount that fits our TV. We have a 46" flat screen that we bought a few years ago and it seems to have an odd VESA pattern - I had no idea what a VESA pattern is or that there are several until I found a mount bought for my TV. . I figured I just need to buy one that fits a 46 inch TV and that's it. nope! I ordered one from another site that was supposed to fit a 46" TV but it didn't work - the mounting brackets were too close together and wouldn't expand enough to fit our TV. After some measuring and searching to find one that was fully articulating, supported the TV's VESA template, and didn't cost a fortune, I found this one. It's definitely too much for our TV - that thing is HEAVY! It weighs as much, if not more, than our TV. However, it is incredibly durable and the full motion function runs smoothly. It obviously needs to be screwed into the studs in the wall, and that's where our only complaint comes in - the wall mount didn't fit our studs. . I believe this applies to racks that are 18" apart, but we have 24" (inside wall) - don't quote me. My husband did the installation while I was away. To make it work, he had to take a plank of wood, paint it the same color as our living room walls, screw the plank to the stands, and then attach a TV mount to the plank. Looks good and the TV is VERY secure but we had to fiddle around a bit to get it working for us. We routed the cables through the wall so there was nothing between the TV and the entertainment center below and it looks really nice. And with the TV on the wall, I don't have to worry about it falling off the stand or anything.
