Best 3rd Party SAS Cable for Homebrew/Homelabs Servers

Notice. They're essentially the same as the fairly popular GTek cables, but the H!Fiber cables come in a few sizes that GTek doesn't have, and are sometimes more attractively priced. However, I believe they are ultimately the same cable and therefore consider both to be "the best". Let's start with the basics: It's made from 3M ribbon cable and Amphenol snap connectors. It also has side cables for drive identification etc (you might be surprised many don't have these). Having used about a dozen of these cables for some time, I have not encountered any quality issues or failures. Now, what sets it apart from the pack: the cable management and therefore improved airflow potential of these cables is tremendous thanks to their tapered design and stability. to fold. Replacing approximately eight standard Dell and IBM round braided sleeve cables with these ribbon cables resulted in a significant improvement in fan airflow and a significant temperature rise inside the server chassis. (You might be afraid to do this, but I've successfully folded them at 90 degrees with no problems.) This means you use less energy to keep temperatures down, and in turn reduces the average failure rate of your devices. What don't you like about it? So a cable is not just a cable considering server airflow and the huge difference in cable surface area in scenarios like a JBOD server or a 4U full hot-swap server. This is no small problem, especially if you run your own server for FreeNAS or Unraid or whatever you have with lots of spares. If you're not careful, it quickly turns into a rat's nest. Compared to other similar offerings: I have previously purchased HP Proliant ribbon cables which they look very similar to. However, Proliant cables have a few disadvantages: 1. Most have a straight and then a right angle SFF-8087, which may not be ideal for your layout. Furnished). 3. Missing sizes (most are 1M I think). This is my only complaint: I wish there were cable options. (Offering 25cm and 50cm or 20cm, 30cm and 50cm would be exceptional. This would probably also be a smart choice for businesses as many of the people buying these cables are likely doing home lab assemblies and are increasingly looking for smaller factors with looking for good temperatures, lower RPMs/quieter fans, etc. So the list of things to avoid also includes bundled cables and bundled cables. Many use Intel expanders, so the distance between hot-swap and the expander is likely to be short, as is the distance from the expander to both to the motherboard or to the external ports For example in my case the 0.8m cable going 4" from the Intel RES2CV360 to the external port is just dumb and doubly dumb if I use two of these cables for one Use dual link In this case a standard 10" cable from Dell etc will actually reduce the clutter in the case. I hope the sellers are listening.
