Gear used with this item: Pentax K3 IISigma 17-50mm f/2.8 (all shots taken at 50mm) I've never used a flash ring and didn't want to spend more than $300 on something, don't know if I can, if i will use . For the price I thought it was worth a try. Pros: Cheap and seems to work well enough. The color temperature seems good and the lighting is even. Note the downsides listed below, I still think it's worth the money as a first ring flash. Cons: At 50mm, the flash creates a vignette in the image. The more current you use for the flash, the worse it gets. That's only a negative because I wanted to use my 17-50mm with this lens. I'm sure it would be fine with a longer lens. The flash spreads across the image because the inside of the ring is transparent (or whatever color filter you use). I added tape on the inside to block the light and that helps. It seems slow. Anything faster than 1/160 second and the flash seemed to fire after the shutter closed. Attached Photos: Dog Toy: This is after the tape is added. 50mm with flash at maximum power. Flowers: This is how he takes pictures of the box (all lights, left side only and right side only). 50mm with flash at maximum power. The flash itself: Adhesive tape is visible inside the filter. You can still see it at 50mm, but the tape keeps excessive light from entering the lens.
