I really, really wanted to love this

. I've been pretty stubborn when it comes to testing wireless headphones and earbuds, always opting for phones with headphone jacks and always sticking with wired ones because I've never really seen a cord, how inconvenient it is. And I've been using the KZ ZSN Pro fairly consistently for the past year and a half, it's one of the best headphones I've gotten from a pair of headphones to date. When I discovered there was an official Bluetooth accessory for this at a reasonable price, I had to try it. Well, I'll start with the good: Packaging and build quality - As with the ZSN Pros, the packaging and overall construction is phenomenal for the price you pay. I've had inferior performance from headphones that cost four times more than these things and just the overall feel of the actual case in the hand is good. It's obviously a bit bulky, but it would be too much to ask an Airpod like a footprint from something this cheap. The magnetic hinge is a bit slippery for my taste, but works great. I also appreciate the Type-C charging and the included cable (though comically short, but points for including it in the first place). Appearance - I like the way these things look. Integrating ZSN Pro's original braided cable with small Bluetooth receivers. My guess is that they don't use the usual long flat cable like many cheaper wireless headphones, making them even more expensive. The case itself also feels premium, like something much more expensive (although it doesn't feel as good as it looks). sound quality. This shouldn't come as a surprise if you're familiar with the original headphones, but they sound just as great when they work (not to bury the LED here). They might sound a tad *little* worse than using them wired, but it's such a tiny difference that I wouldn't notice unless I looked for it. I've seen some people complain about the increased static levels (something the original ZSNs struggled with), and it might have been *a little* louder, but if you're used to it from the wired version, it will you are fine . And to be honest, I didn't notice any difference between the high performance and regular modes, although that might be due to my limited testing and lack of lossless sound with them. Average Poor but Not Significant: Initial Setup - I found this a little awkward at first because only one was connected at first (apparently because the pins had to be taped to keep them from connecting without being removed, but one wasn't even in that right spot) and it's counterintuitive if you haven't read the manual first, but it could definitely be worse. And chances are you won't be doing that much anyway, so whatever. Built-in Voice - There is a voice that will sound and tell you when a function has been performed, such as B. "Unplug" or "Pair". Normally this wouldn't be worth mentioning, but the AZ09 is so terrible I can't help but mention it. It's pretty unimportant which is why I'm putting it here, but they use text-to-speech, which is clearly not meant for English as it manages to say "off" like "dis-con-shay-tate" with a very weird accent. It's still serviceable, but it was an odd decision not to just use a voice designed for the language of the particular market it's released in. It manages to stay connected to my phone while listening to music. They basically know what they are for. But that fails. For context, I've decided to test these developments one day to try them out. My phone is no more than a foot or a foot and a half from my ears most of the time when I'm in the car. I don't even move my head much when using them. But within about an hour and a half they were almost unusable. I couldn't hear a piece of music without my left and right ears constantly popping out, almost independently of each other. I switched to high performance mode hoping that would fix the situation but found no respite from the horrific experience of using it. I still hoped they would get better but nothing changed during training. In fact, I could swear they've gotten even more unreliable over time. They also got a 100% charge, so I have no reason to think this is due to my power outages. I later tried them at home, literally sitting at my desk and found the same experience as before. Overall I just can't recommend them if they can't even do something as simple as stay connected and stream audio for more than 5 seconds without shutting down. I expected more from KZ, I really did, and I hope they manage to release a new iteration that fixes this issue. But now I've returned my order and will be sticking with my wired ZSN pros for the foreseeable future.
