They are not intended for real storage
Like other reviews they started sagging at the top as soon as I started filling them. They are not designed to support the weight of adult clothing. Maybe a few sweaters, but any shelf, if filled to the brim, will destroy this thing. I'd say the weight capacity is around 10 pounds to keep it in perfect shape and not add weight to the top shelf. I don't like it when my bows don't break. it will likely. The inserts are made of either thin cardboard (poster type) or thin plastic. If they invested in heavier plastic or even heavy-duty cardboard it would completely improve this shelf.
