I was going to give this thing a bad review until I read everyone else's reviews. I fixed both cords to the wall and found that the color was wrong. I only had greens and yellows. After reading a few reviews I decided to play with it some more. 1.) The remote works, just point it at the white box that is included. 2.) Yes, both strips can be attached, there are more attachments in the box. .) If the color is not continuous, arrange the strips into strings as shown. I accidentally detached one of the strips from the white box and all the lights became a solid lampshade. And I could change the color on the remote and in the app. So just disconnect the strip from the cable and reconnect it by twisting it the other way. Hope that helps!
