Don't listen to negative reviews, these people don't know.

This is a fantastic entry-level DSLR. I've had mine for almost a year now and wanted to get a lot out of it before writing a review. First, a lot of people say the D3400 is a "degradation" of the D3300, and they have no idea what they're talking about. One of their claims is a weaker flash. As you learn more about photography, you will realize that the built-in camera flash is rubbish ON ANY CAMERA and is not desirable for good quality photos and portraits anyway. And it's also not true that you can't take pictures from a distance with the D3400. You just have to use the wireless remote control which works great or use the 2-10 delay timer. And no, it doesn't have Wi-Fi, instead it has Bluetooth, which the Nikon SnapBridge app uses to receive JPEGs on your phone, which works great if you just want to upload to Facebook, Instagram, etc. Compress your images anyway . But for better photos, you still need to shoot in RAW (or at least RAW+JPEG) and transfer your photos to your computer via an SD card (not included, btw) so you can edit the images in Photoshop or Lightroom. , or whatever processing software you prefer to really bring your photos to life and make them look more professional. So Nikon got rid of all the junk on the D3300 that YOU DON'T NEED and gave you much better battery life, 500fps on the D3300 versus 1200fps on the D3400. Who in their right mind wouldn't want that? This is a fantastic entry-level camera that can take amazing photos! This camera fit my budget perfectly when I bought it and I got a kit with a camera case and two kit lenses, 70-300mm and 18-55mm, which by the way are fantastic for kit lenses and give you a lot of options . Versatility for beginners. At some point you'll want to upgrade your lenses and invest in quality prime lenses to get even better shots. If I had to do it all over again with the budget I had at the time of purchase I would definitely do it! And all the self-proclaimed experts here who say this camera isn't as good as the D3300 are just blindsided and don't understand what they're talking about. Also, some people say Snapbridge doesn't work with iPhone. I have been using an iPhone 6S Plus which has just been upgraded to 8S Plus and have had no issues with either phone. iPhone works fine.
