I am a marine master technician and have been using this type of connectors since they were introduced some 30 years ago. These connectors would not last in a marine environment for long at all. The adhesive which is activated during the heating process is inefficient, containing maybe 1/2 the amount as a professional grade connector of the identical gauge.Secondly the actual metal crimping area is much smaller on the butt splices leaving much less contact area on the wire that has been stripped which in turn will provide a poor connection long term.Another issue is the entry size where the wire’s insulation goes is much smaller making connections on heavily insulated wires difficult or impossible.The push on type connector has a few issues, 1st) the non crimped end has non firm fitting insulation so fitting multiple connectors on a device will have clearance issues with the nearby connectors on the same device which will require removal of the insulation I order to make a good connection 2nd) the push on connector end is not formed in a manner that will remain stable long term. Push on connectors are notorious for fitting loose after they have been pushed on more than once, again leading to long term connection issues.I will use some of the set only on automotive applications and only in easily accessible and dryer locations. Certainly not under a car and absolutely not on a boat. I have included pictures which show the professional grade side by side with these connectors.In the photos the top or right connectors are the professional grade and the left or lower connectors being reviewed. The differences are clear.
