Review on πŸ“· Wi-Fi Enabled Canon EOS 6D Mark II Digital SLR Camera Body by Ryan Chaplain

Incredible camera and start for beginner photographers

Not new to DLSR I wanted to upgrade. I didn't have any extra lenses and used the Rebel TSi, a ridiculous comparison to the 6D Mark II. Since I didn't bother to finish the glass, I wanted a full frame (FF) that would last a while. I compared it to the 80D and 5D MKIV before settling on the 6D MkII. Because of the price difference between the 5D MkIV and the 6D MkII I can put the rest in glass (Canon MP-E 65mm, 100mm L) along with a nice 24-105mm for everyday use. I wasn't disappointed at all. I've waited a little over two months to write this review. I got it at the time the battery grip was included (great deal) and I bought an extra battery to fill the grip. On my first trip, I visited several nearby parks to get a feel for it and then went to Yellowstone National Park for five days. The images are incredibly sharp. The 24-105 is a sharp camera lens that's great for wide-angle shots, but not ultra wide (UW) like the 16-35mm or 17-40mm (see next). Features are amazing, flip screen LCD is scratchy. steady but I keep it mostly closed. What I really liked was the GPS feature for geotagging. However, this will drain the battery much faster. Each battery lasted for about 600 shots. Not that bad. I did 1 lap with it. With FF, you don't have to worry about upgrading in the future. Leaving EF installed and buying just EF glass (MP-E compatible with two) gives you plenty of room to expand your lens collection. Image quality: Excellent, not as fast a shutter speed as 1DX but I don't shoot sports, it will probably take 'good' wildlife shots, but I would go for the 5d Mk IV instead if speed over photos is needed. Autofocus (AF) is accurate at a working distance of about 1 foot, if less switch to manual mode. The multi-pixel autofocus works well and the shutter is smooth. Video: The 5D MKIV is a bit better for videos, but doesn't break words. The Canon 6D MkII has gotten a bad rap due to Canon's lazy drivers. Well, I'm not disputing that, but the features are enough that some pros keep this camera as a backup for their 1DX or 5D MkIV. I can't confirm the presence of video capabilities as I bought primarily for photos. All in all it was a fantastic camera. Super happy with it!

Fully capable of producing professional quality images on a par with any full frame competitor.

Slightly improved, yet vastly the same.
