After reading so many reviews about ladders being cheap and falling apart I had to convince myself. It was the only ladder on the market that met my needs at an affordable price. I have a large double bed, quite high. I chose XL (for medium dogs) for my 9 lb chihuahua so she can easily get on the edge of the bed. I think the smaller one (designed for her size) would be too short. She is very happy (I think). It's a bit cheaply made, but it looks really good. The protector is made of solid wood and covered with thin brown felt. The base consists of a thin pressed plate. It is very hollow and a person can poke a hole in it. It is definitely not intended for children or rough heavy dogs. The legs are wood and could potentially slip on hardwood floors so I added felt at the bottom and it works great.
