I received 5 stars because I got exactly what I wanted. I need space for children's books. The reason I decided not to buy a bookshelf is because I'm afraid it might fall on my child. This item gives you book storage without worrying about crushing your child. Now to the topic. It's not wide, it fits perfectly in the small space in the room, which I was also looking for. I put about 30 books in it, small and large books. Remember, I'm not keen on the way things look, yes, the smaller books just fall down your sleeve and you can't see them, but I'm also the kind of parent who reads to their kid, so honestly I am I really don't give a damn about being able to see the cover of a book and my son doesn't complain. The wood seems strong enough, better than I expected because some reviews said it was flexible and that bothered me. it just isn't the case. I'm no expert, so it might not be a real tree, but it's very close, especially given the deal. Took me 10 minutes to assemble it mostly by myself, my spouse had to help because I started with a very small screwdriver. and sore palms. He came up with a large Phillips screwdriver and that was it. Instructions are in pictures, pretty easy to follow. Just use a regular size Phillips screwdriver with a good grip as some of them are difficult to screw all the way in. Work patiently, do not apply force to the screws. These are just basic assembly rules, otherwise you might break the tree, but that will happen in almost any wood and screw scenario. So let's summarize. The shelf is as wide as a 34 inch TV, maybe as high as an average 2 year old. If you have OCD, this article may not be for you. Please be patient while assembling and ask for help if you need it. This review is based on the fact that I received the product I expected and it met my expectations.
