I needed a vertical case for two cell phones. I have to take my work cell phone and my personal cell phone with me to work. Since my work phone had a large case and my personal phone comes in a case, it was perfect for keeping both safe in a holster. You need an extended battery or a phone to use this. The attached photos show the Apple phone in a protective case and there is still enough room in the case and you can hold the phone steady by snapping the velcro tab at the bottom. The case easily holds a phone of any height as the flap is adjustable so my Note 3 is easy. But there is also space for smaller mobile phones by placing the flap further down.
