Review on ๐Ÿ–จ๏ธ Sovol Extruder Capricorn Pneumatic Bed Level: Precision in 3D Printing by Larry Morris

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Dual drive extruder (red) is not suitable.

note later. The silver extruder from the Creality brand fits well and is responsible for the good ratings here. This is for the red two-drive kit. I'm sure no one really attempted to install this copy kit before selling it. Unless I have an unusually short stepper motor shaft, it won't fit in anyone's Ender 3 Pro, and I doubt it will fit in the original or v2. The problem is that the adjustment/adjustment screw on the primary gear is too high and not fully touching the end of the shaft. Other than drilling and tapping a new hole, there is no way to attach it to the stepper motor. In my opinion, every experimental setup was made directly on the stepper motor and the thickness of the mounting plate on the Ender 3 was neglected. It is significant that there are no photos of this installation and more significantly that the primary gear is shown _reversed_ in the product images. I should have known better. It's also worth noting that this wasn't accompanied by any instructions at all. No cryptic diagram, no link to another company's YouTube video, nothing. The parts seem good enough for the price (which means they didn't arrive broken) and the Capricorn hose set was packaged in a nice official bag, but I still have to return the whole thing. The good news is that a single drive silver extruder is probably all you need. I got a dual drive because I had slippage and was trying to figure out why, but when I disassembled the original plastic it broke so I really only needed one that wasn't actually broken. (Before it broke it extruded perfectly) TLDR: Skip the red. Hope this helps.
