Review on 23.8" Monitor Acer RT240Ybmid, 1920x1080, IPS, black by Stanislaw Bieroza ᠌

Average purchase, there is something to complain about.

Monitor "Acer RT240Ybmid" was purchased a few days ago "under the order". Monitor build date: November 2022 - indicated on the rear panel. I'll tell you what I didn't like the most and compare it with my previous Viewsonic VA915. ♦ White flashes at the bottom of the screen in the form of dots of different diameters along the perimeter with a duration slightly longer than the Acer logo. I attached a photo to the review (white spots are more noticeable in reality). Only visible on black backgrounds or dark scenes in these areas. There was nothing like this in the previous monitor. The picture was perfect in everything, including not inferior in viewing angles, it even kept regular 75Hz. Already 12 years have passed, but at least the "Acer RT240Ybmid" did not notice a noticeable breakthrough in image quality. I don’t see any strong differences in image quality, which means the color reproduction is excellent :) It doesn’t break my eyes, the colors are pleasant to the eye in ECO mode. ♦ Blue diode and its blinking in standby mode. The previous monitor was soft green (on) and soft orange (not blinking / standby). Why was it necessary to insert such a nuclear blue color also blinking? What place does the manufacturer think? As a last resort, an option could be made to be able to turn it off completely. ♦ Disgusting graphics on the OSD, when it shows which port is currently enabled (VGA, DVI, HDMI) and the start logo (everything is a ladder - horror). In the previous monitor, the graphics were decent and pleasing. And the "Acer RT240Ybmid" graphics are similar to Dendy, if not worse. Really just disgusting, vile and just a shame that such graphics exist in 2022-2022. The logic (it's a pity you can't use another word) of the manufacturer is amazing. Facepalm. You can also add that between the frame and the display there is an empty gap somewhere in a millimeter, probably, that is, it does not fit snugly to the edges. Dust will accumulate 100%. And the display of the picture itself, of course, is not from a plastic frame, but with an indent of probably five millimeters. In my understanding, framelessness is when the picture comes completely to the frame.

Pros
  • - appearance - color rendition - metal leg - DVI port
Cons
  • - highlights on a black background - blue diode + blinking while waiting - disgusting graphics on OSD - there is no way to hide the wires (hanging, spoiling the view) - lack of quality control - only 60Hz (+ the matrix does not chase) - no wall mounts (if anyone is interested, I personally don't care) - lack of DisplayPort (not needed for this monitor) - only VGA cable included
