Review on XO Vision HTC35 HD Universal Weatherproof Rear View Backup Camera with Night Vision, Wide 170° Viewing Angle by William Burnett

Good IR, bad daylight

In fact, this camera has one important feature that is not documented by the manufacturer: distance grid lines. It's a pretty cool feature that overlays the video signal and shows "always on top" even when the video signal isn't completely flat. If you don't need pads, buy another camera. It cannot be disabled. The camera performs well in dark environments - the IR function shines really well. I've seen a good video well over 15 feet. They do get pretty hot though, so the aluminum body keeps the heat in sync. Most of the body consists of a huge threaded bolt with a turnbuckle. It's nice that they added a couple of angle rings so the camera can be positioned flat or tilted up/down if your application calls for it. I was disappointed with the video quality in daylight with IR turned off. The video had significant distortion which made the whole product look very cheap although otherwise it looks really well made. The video noise was so bad that the camera wasn't worth it. If you intend to use it exclusively in the dark, go for it. It's a great price and works very well in the dark. If you need it in daylight, get another camera. The camera came with angle rings, a turnbuckle, a power adapter cable and an extra long composite video cable. It uses a standard 12V power supply and plugs directly into a traditional surveillance system. There are no user configurable features on the camera - these are auto iris, auto IR, auto focus. This can be good or bad depending on what you want to do with it.
