You will need to wash it, dry it, and iron it to make it soft and pretty.For those people that are detail oriented, please note that there is a bit of an odd seam about 2 ft from the bottom.kinda like the material was not quite long enough and had to be pieced together. But it did not detract from the beauty of the duvet cover to me.
