I've had several Max Pax and this one is fine. I wanted to get away from the military copycat, and this one promised the same maximum durability, but with no excuse. And it delivers pretty well. I like the zipper. Good quality, easy to find by just groping around. I like straps. Just the right balance of lightness and strength, I don't like the main zip. If you put something relatively heavy in the front pocket, the zipper presses down and on the last walk it opened by itself and something almost fell out. In fact, I had to use velcro and a loop from the old Max as an extra tether to keep the zipper from opening itself. For me, this is a fatal mistake. Also, the mesh pockets on the sides of the backpack are too small. What should I enter there? It's actually just a laptop bag. Think about it like that and you will be fine. But I would go the other way.
