It took me a while to figure out that you could lessen the wildness with the controls next to the power button. The first setting is a cool and very bright light that can completely brighten my facial features with additional light during the day. At night, this has the same effect as a flash, although you can change the angle so it doesn't bother your eyes. It is best to position the camera on the side of your monitor or webcam so that you are not looking directly at it. Other settings - all warm - very yellow/amber. If the ambient light combined with the glow of the monitor is too blue for you, this is a good option. it's a good balance. The battery doesn't seem to hold a charge very well, so I try to keep it connected to a power source during use. Overall very happy with it; definitely makes me look and feel better in front of the camera.
