EDIT: 2 years every other day year round and it still works and holds a charge. Unfortunately, 2 years of sweat dripping into the headphone jack has corroded the pins, requiring me to twist the headphone plug several times to get stereo. You might not have this problem unless you sweat as much as I do! I just bought another of the same item to replace it. I also noticed an issue that could be at the root of some of the other battery life complaints: if you charge the device and then unplug it from the charger, it stays on. Parameter. If you put it in a drawer and remember to turn it off, it will drain the battery (with no auto-off). --- I am a 57 year old music lover and cross country runner. My third iPod shuffle is obsolete and as it is no longer manufactured I decided to try the Agptek G02. I wanted something small and easy to use without having to read the LCD. Durable: The iPod shuffle was metal, and you could probably drive a car over it without damaging it, while the Agptek is plastic. However, it appears to be well made and after 1-1/2 months of use in hot weather it has given me no problems. The silicone case is a great idea and seems effective in preventing sweat from getting inside the device, so I'm hoping it will outlast my various iPod shuffles. Sound Quality: I am very picky about sound quality and have been evaluating headphones and speakers for decades. My reference headphones are the Sennheiser HD-600, high-impedance headphones not suitable for wearable devices. However, with my regular running headphones (a discontinued Sony MDR-A34), the Agptek G02 sounds at least as good as an iPod shuffle, so I'm happy. Ease of use: Agptek easily outperforms the iPod here. Sure, you could change the volume setting by clipping it to your clothing, but it was nearly impossible to attach iPod shuffle without skipping a track or tracks. Compared to the iPod, Agptek makes it much easier to adjust the volume and change tracks while you work thanks to the larger control panel. With the iPod, I've often accidentally skipped tracks when trying to change the volume, or vice versa. It's also easier to see that it's on thanks to the LED backlight. It doesn't have the sound function of the iPod, but I hardly ever used it anyway. Also keep in mind that with Agptek in shuffle/shuffle mode you can't play tracks by skipping backwards like you could with an iPod. Battery Life: I didn't do a direct comparison (since all my iPod shuffles are already dead), but I expect the Agptek to have less battery life due to the always-on LED. However, it has lasted a month with around 10-15 hours of use on the first charge. EDIT: It lasted at least 20 hours on a second charge! Capacity: 8 GB for Agptek G02 (not expandable) vs. 2 GB for iPod shuffle (also not expandable). Great progress! Radio: I have not tried this function. Price: Less than half the cost of the iPod shuffle, although, to be fair, the headphones come with the headphones. Considering the ease of use and additional features, Agptek is a steal.
